A CONCEPTUAL STUDY ON INCLUSIVE TOURISM
Abstract
Tourism is regarded as an important industry that helps to develop and contribute to the economies of the countries. Tourism destinations worldwide are up against intense and increasing competition. It is clear that this rapidly increasing business has become an important aspect of societal integration, particularly in Europe. Consumers who engage in tourism activities increasingly expect not only high-quality service, but also places that are socially responsible and environmentally sustainable. For sustainable tourism, every member of society should benefit from service systems that are provided equitably and without discrimination. In this framework, tourism groups, business leaders, and academics all over the world emphasize the significance of making tourism, one of the world's major sectors, more inclusive. Accordingly, this study presents a conceptual framework on inclusive tourism, which ensures that every individual is involved in the production and consumption of tourism products in an ethical and beneficial way. In addition to outlining the significance, goals, and significant advances of inclusive tourism, universal design principles are reviewed within the context of inclusive tourism.
