Abstract

Parallel to the changing and differentiation of living standards, there are also changes in tourism diversity and travel preferences. Increasing the diversity of tourism has gained importance especially in order to meet the different demands in terms of tourism. One of these types of tourism is rural tourism. It provides important contributions to the tourism development of rural tourism regions where rural settlements and resources are used positively. Professional tourist guides have an important role in promoting tourism varieties and attracting destinations. The place and the importance of professional tourist guides are great in terms of promoting tourism activities, making correct informations, creating a positive image in tourists. This study was carried out to evaluate Marmaris rural tourism potential in terms of professional tourist guides. In the scope of the study, the opinions of the professional tour guides about the rural tourism were tried to be determined.In addition, rural tourism attractive-ness of Marmaris has been included in the study.
In this study, interview method which is one of the qualitative research data collection methods was applied. Suggestions were presented within the framework of findings.
