Water culture in Konya, water wells, change of water wellsAbstract
Since Konya is an arid region, it has been dependent on water for centuries in agricultural production. For this reason, water and the vitality it creates are reflected in local culture, behavior patterns and production. The fact that the already limited water resources are mostly underground resources has led to the formation of a very active life around the wells used to benefit from these resources. From the structures that were excavated in the past, built with stones and extracted water by human or animal power, it has become a situation where water is extracted with deep well pumps, which are drilled today. This study describes the change of water-dependent culture created around water wells in the past.
